The Meriton Old Town Hotel awaits you in Old
Town, near the port. Several shops and galleries are all within walking
distance.
The building has a historic atmosphere. The
style will be characterised by a pseudo-Gothic abundance of details,
ornaments true to the era and warm, dark colours, which will allow the
uniqueness of the building to be emphasised. The dominating materials are
natural stone, dark wood, multicoloured fabrics and wrought iron. Light
fittings will be imitations or historical wrought iron with lamps similar
to handmade glass or textile shades.
The interior design of the lobby and the dining hall connects medieval and
modern styles. A contemporary room solution has been placed between
historical walls; natural materials are adorned with modern accents
From 1340 to 1355, one of the towers of the
historical city wall, the Rentern Tower, was located at the site of the
Meriton Old Town Hotel. The tower perished in 1880 and the current
building was built on the foundation of the tower.
In the building complex is also the Horse
Mill, which was built in the first half of the 14th century and which
belongs among the 78 most interesting objects in the Old Town of Tallinn.
